April is a registered social worker, therapist, and mental health educator residing on Treaty 6 Territory. April has over 15 years of experience working with individuals through times of crisis and growth. April’s career path has allowed her to work with youth and adults in community and government agencies struggling with complex trauma, addictions, and co-occurring disorders. April joined Oaks Mental Health in 2022 where she has the honour of bringing the principles of trauma-informed care into mental health education, which is one of her passions. Along side her training and professional experience April has lived experience with mental illness, addictions, and loss. April’s approach to facilitation is both trauma-informed and culturally responsive. She enjoys the interaction and engagement of facilitating and believes every opportunity to teach is an opportunity to learn.
